The photographer and his subject.
In this weeks Nitty News I've written about the magnificent, French candle brand Cire Trudon. In their collection of fragranced candles one of the best sellers is “Ernesto”.
Thinking of Ernesto “Che” Guevara I'm pretty sure that there is one particular picture that pops up in your head, Che, with focused gaze, unshaved, wearing his characteristic beret. The photograph 'Guerrillero Heroico', was taken on March 4th in 1960 with a Leica camera by the Cuban born photographer Alberto Korda and has become one of the most spread pictures in modern time.
Korda and Guevara where both born in 1928 and they both had a very significant way of dressing. Che in his army rags and heavy boots, Korda in his more intellectual, yet adventurous army inspired linen shirts, vests and scarves.
Something like this:

What daddy wants, daddy gets…
On Sunday it's the annual celebration day for all fathers out there. Luckily for me I qualify into that category myself since 8 years. On Sunday I'll bring my two boys, my father and uncle Hasse to our favourite brunch diner in Stockholm, Marie Laveau, located just a short walk from the Nitty Gritty Store.
Having problem with gift ideas for your dad, or just simply want to get something nice for yourself on Sunday? Here are my suggestions…

Pens and Notebooks from Field Notes (in store), Knitted Wool Hat from Drakes, Knitted Scarf from Drakes (in store), Wool Socks From Nitty Gritty (in store), Wool Peacoat from Gloverall, Oxford Shirt from DelSiena for Nitty Gritty, Wool insoles from Bama (in store), Eau De Parfum from Byredo Parfums (in store).
Technical Tailoring and comfy dress shoes…
Thanks to the warm autumn weather it's still possible to, even up here in cold, cold Scandinavia, to look fairly good when strolling or biking to work. And it's late October!
My colleague Erik approached me the other day with saying:
-I've never seen you wearing the same jacket every day for several weeks before…

Well, maybe I just haven't had such a great piece of tailored jacket before. Belvest Travel blazer is a dark navy, water repellent, perfectly fitted Italian jacket that could be combined in a thousand ways. This fall, I wear it with a quilted Montedoro waistcoat, black A.P.C denims, washed, non ironed cotton Glanshirt shirt, Alden Cordovan Derbys and the two face blackwatch/polkadot scarves from Drakes.
Easy peasy…
For all you youngsters out there who still haven't found your true grit I will deliver some, hopefully inspiring, outfits from the Nitty Gritty seasonal assortment.
Every now and then on the blog and on the NG facebook page I'll give you ideas on how things can me mixed and matched together. Sometimes with a special person in mind, sometimes simply from my own visions… Enjoy!

We'll start up with some Nitty Classics like the LVC 505 that sits perfect with the Nitty Gritty special edition Tricker's brogue with red Dainite sole. The technical work jacket comes from Nanmica and goes well with the grey oxford b.d shirt from Gitman Vintage worn over a warming Henley from Nigel Cabourn…
Gloves from Carhartt and cable knit cashmere socks from Nitty Gritty. (My personal favourite when it comes to socks!) If you don't feel for spending 900 SEK for a knitted hat just bring a picture of this beautiful one from the great co-op between Visvim and Moncler to your grandmother and she'll make you one in a day or two.
See you at the Pub!
