LET THERE BE LIGHT

Author: Cecilia Posted: November 27th, 2010

For English translation, see below.

Translation:
Electric candlesticks are my favourites for x-mas decorations. Just got a new one, well, new for me, but it´s an original string style made by Philips in the fifties. I love the light, it´s so important now when it goes dark already in early afternoon.
I have several amazing lamps at home, another one which helps me last through winter is a giant metal palm tree, Italian sixties design. I admit to having a soft spot for lamps, that´s for sure...

Sunspel

Author: Nitty Crew Posted: November 26th, 2010

When Nick Kamen removed his jeans in the Levi’s ‘launderette’ advert it was to reveal Sunspel boxer shorts. This very fine English company has been spending the last 150 years developing the finest underwear and t-shirts that you can ever imagine.
Started up in 1860 in Nottingham the company among many other things introduced the boxer short in 1947 to the Brits. An independent attitude, classic style, an uncompromising tradition of excellence rooted in craft skills handed down the generations – the result is clothing that feels deeply luxurious yet has an understated elegance and sophistication. Nitty Gritty is very proud to be one of the selected retailers that can offer our customers such perfection in underwear, t-shirts and polos.
We believe that you among other Sunspel ambassadors such as Batman (Christian Bale in Batman - The Dark Knight) and James Bond (numerous films during the years, among others, Daniel Craig in Casino Royal wears a classic Sunspel polo) are enjoying the comfort in a perfectly cut pair of boxers or an under tee. Just like Sunspel in the movies, Sunspel in the design co-op´s are also very appreciated. Paul Smith, Margaret Howell, Thom Browne and Kris Van Assche have all done their own interpretation of the classics.
Now available in Nitty Gritty Care About.

Nitty Gritty Music - Winter

Author: Eric Posted: November 25th, 2010

This morning when I was doing my usual look out my bedroom window, it’s was white and a Christmas tree were placed on the little square. It didn’t really come as a surprise, the news has warned us for a snowstorm and it is late November, still, seasons are hard to get used to. It’s dark, cold, what can you do? Light some candles and make a hot cup of coco and listen to my new Nitty Gritty Music Winter list.

CHURCH´S

How I love my classic brogues. They´re truly brilliant. As is my Isabel Marant Etoile pants, and knitted sweater. And my checked Vivienne Westwood Anglomania coat... My standard outfit as of late.
In a weeks time I´ll be back at work, which will mean a lot more variation since I won´t have to consider practicality when (no longer) breastfeeding during daytime. Not that I mind this look (pants/sweater), I love it, but I´ve actually been missing the dresses. Soon!

No wonder Church´s make perfect shoes by the way. They´ve had 137 years of practice with the brand so far, and the Church´s family even had another 198 years of experience prior to that, too. Quite an impressive heritage in the craftmanship of hand made shoes, no?
Pictured here with giant Spanish trees probably around that respectable age, too.

Janis the dog

Me, Maxine and Hanna. Food, wine, antiques market, palm trees and Janis (Joplin) the dog. Our men joined in some days, too. But most of the time, it was just us girls. Such a wonderful trip. My batteries are now charged to endure some icy and dark winter months.

PLASTIC FANTASTIC

Author: Cecilia Posted: November 22nd, 2010

We had the most wonderful time in Spain. Maxine went on the swing for the very first time, she LOVED it. I finished a book! Haven´t in what feels like ages. (Reading, not writing, that is.) We had some really good food. Peace and quiet, most tourists were long gone. And all this in the autumn sun by the sea, with my love and lovely friends... Couldn´t ask for so much more, really.

Here, some pretty pictures taken with the Plastic Bullet App. for iPhone. Will post more soon, however "regular" ones.

Nitty Gritty Music - California

Author: Eric Posted: November 18th, 2010

Stockholm is getting cold, and I mean literally. While my colleagues are dressing up for climbing mountains I’m having a hard time choosing other shoes than my white Vans authentic. What I can do is try to make the store as warm as possible and I do that with some Californian sounds. Let me present to you Nitty Gritty Music California

And for visuals from our friends at Papercut:

OFF TO SPAIN

Author: Cecilia Posted: November 11th, 2010

For English translation, see below.

Translation:
Our little family is now heading to dear friends in Spain, and it will be a proper vacation, so this space will be resting for a little while, too. Packing nowadays means Maxine shares my suitcase, but as long as we´re breastfeeding I mostly wander around in more or less the same outfits anyway. No fashion-harm done, ha ha. Happy times ahead!

For four years I’ve been taking care of the music we play in our shop. My lists have been appreciated and some customers have asked if I could share it on our website.

I'll start of with a best of what we’ve been playing this fall:

IT WASN´T MEANT TO BE, ELSA AND ME

Author: Cecilia Posted: November 8th, 2010
Elsa Schiaparelli hat

For English translation, see below.

Translation:
Oh no. I can´t believe it. No Schiaparelli hat for me this time either (see previous post). It was already sold and the seller could not understand how it was listed again. Me neither... What are the odds? Damn it! But hey, here it is anyway. Just so you know what I missed. Gorgeous, isn´t it?
