Nevermind the worst album ever made!
It has apparently gone 20 years since Nirvana released their smash hit record Nevermind. It makes me feel a bit old! I was in London when they released it and I was at the Astoria to see them perform it. Sure it was a big crowd and they played two nights but I could never predict that they were going to be the biggest band on the planet! Back home I had introduced my indie friends to their first album bleach but they didn’t like it. I was quite happy about having a band all to myself. Well. That didn’t last long, did it?!
All of a sudden I shared Nirvana with all kinds of people! This was hard for me to cope with,
Alternative music was accepted by the public and MTV Played Nirvana on prime time!
A couple of months earlier, us alternative folks were relegated to the show 120 minutes with Paul King to see our underdressed rockstars in music videos!
I blame everything on Butch vig! His production on Nevermind is vulgar! Why did Nirvana agree with his production? And why did they leave Sub Pop for a major company? It’s too slick, voice dubs too even and the guitar and bass sound is horrible.
The songs were alright and if they have stayed with their original sound, Kurt might have still been alive. Okay his production really worked on Gish with the pumpkins but Nirvana was a garage band. Why didn’t he take that in to consideration?
Happy 20th year Nevermind.

Ok, so getting married was almost too fun! I want to do it all the time now, ha ha ha. Pictures coming up, still waiting for them myself.
The hangover the day after wasn´t too bad - but instead I was knocked out by some feverous flu and I wasn´t feeling well until this afternoon. I miss the new store so much!! But it´s been doing great without me, so I guess it´s still all good.
Will be back tomorrow and on Friday, and then we leave for Paris Fashion Week early Saturday morning. My first travelling as a Madame, how strange not to be a Mademoiselle, no? And what to pack? I´m in autumn mode and it´s 26 degrees Celcius and sunny in Paris. Uh-oh.
But first, just sharing a couple of outfits from the opening night of the new women´s space last Thursday, Maria in the fabulous winter wool dress by Jil Sander Navy (in store now), so is her stockings by Falke, and the shoes are old Chloé´s.

Me in knitted pencil skirt by 1-10 Sharon Wauchob, asymmetric side slit top by Helmut Lang, wool jacket by Harris Wharf (all in store now), and vintage shoes and jewellery.

Can´t wait to be back at work tomorrow, being home sick is just too booring...

We had the great pleasure of hosting an event last week featuring Christopher Raeburns collection for Victorinox 'Remade in Switzerland'. Champagne, finger food, Bang Olufsen TV's featuring the videos made for every piece in the collection.
It is always a treat to get the chance to talk to the designer of a collection, and hear his thoughts on the process as the collection takes form, and the work behind it.
Following are some pictures of our showroom before the event kicked off:

Today was the big day! YAY!
We opened the doors to our new women´s shop, the first in Nitty Gritty´s 20 year old history. It´s looking fantastic, we couldn´t be happier (ok, maybe next week when the last bits and pieces fall into place, but still)! Here, some snapshots of the shop space. Read more in our latest newsletter here, such as details of our biggest inspirations (though we are very embarrassed to see that Ladurée was misspelled, it wasn´t in our Swedish version so it´s just an unfortunate typo) (Please forgive.)

Now, I need to get some beauty sleep. Wedding coming up tomorrow!

Happy times! I just hung our autumn/winter selection from Helmut Lang in the new shop space, and it looks i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.l.e!
The dusty soft green shade on the walls really brings out all the colours in such a brilliant way, and it´s airy and ...just amazing. The picture is taken with an iPhone though, it doesn´t do it complete justice, but still. I just feel the need to share, so excited!!! On Wednesday my friends, on Wednesday. Come say hi and check it out for yourselves. Boom!

New York Fashion Week has come to an end and for the first time in five years, Helmut Lang had a catwalk show (for next spring/summer season 2012). The design duo (a husband and wife team), Nicole and Michael Colovos, have been the creative forces behind the label for the past five years. Mr. Lang himself left the company in 2005 and now works as an artist based in New York.
It´s no secret that I´m a big fan of Helmut Lang and I think the Colovos´ are doing a wonderful job keeping the legacy of the Helmut Lang fashion house alive.
Some pics from the show:

Print like giant brush strokes, and the bare midriffs are explained by the smashing bras - I would want to show those off, too. They´re perfection! But I´d do it with a see through top over, and I have plenty of those. Yum.

Fierce looking gals indeed...

...and that little dress and that flowy jacket looks absolutely amazing from where I´m sitting (in front of the computer, that is). Looking forward to Paris Fashion Week in early October so I can go all touchy-feely on them as well. Heh.

...the most beautiful blouse I´ve ever seen from Anne Valerie Hash. In store from Wednesday, when we open the new women´s space. The feel of this silk - I´ve never worn anything nicer.
Wide trousers by Jil Sander Navy (in store now), heels YSL and vintage bangles. Voilá!
