When Sonic Magazine gathered statements from 40 of the most renowned Swedish music journalists and musicians to sum up Joakim Thåströms career (you can buy the magazine at our neighbours shop or online at papercutshop.se if you are interested to read the whole article) so far and to compile a list of his 50 best songs ever over his 35 active years as a musician (the final list is also to be found on Spotify). From Ebba Gröns “Antirock¨ that was released in 1978 up to “Kärlek är för dom¨ (this list was made before his latest album release Beväpna er med vingar).
Songs are included from Ebba Grön, Rymdimperiet, Imperiet, Peace Love and Pitbulls, Sällskapet and his solo career Thåström. A unanimous group of musicians and journalists appointed “Kort biografi med litet testamente” to his best song ever written which came from his latest album. That is pretty amazing. Could you ever imagine going through Paul McCartney’s songs and not putting a Beatles song on top of the list but instead choosing something from his latest album? It sounds and is very unlikely don’t you agree?
This is what makes Thåström so unique. He is never nostalgic, and he just keeps evolving and improving with time.
I was at Cirkus to see the premiere show of his 2012 tour and was completely blown away, Again! I have seen Thåström maybe 20 times over the years and every time I’ve seen him it is similar to something of a religious experience. I feel like I have been somewhat chosen, handpicked to come and see him (and I really don’t think I am the only one feeling this way), its like thanks for letting me come Thåström, I hope I don't disturb you while your performing. I hope you don’t mind if a sing along to some of your music..
Every time I leave a Thåström concert I feel a little at unease, the same question always arises, is this the last time he is on tour? That would be a somewhat of a bitter calamity.
Thåström is of course one of a kind. There will never be anyone like him. I really hope that he will continue to perform for the next 35 years to come because it would be an extreme loss and feeling of emptiness without the knowledge of him in the studio or on the road.
On a more personal note I read that he and Amanda Ooms (they were a couple during the eighties) have gotten back to together and have bought a house at Österlen. “Joakim is the love of my life; I have waited 20 years for him and me to get back together¨ Amanda said in an interview recently. That is so fucking romantic!
Joakim and Amanda have been by Nitty Gritty once; we all got so starstrucked that we couldn’t utter a single word though.
Thåström thanks for these first 35 years and I am looking forward to the next.
This week I had no idea what kind of playlist I would do. This happens sometimes. No new music what I know has been released. Probably has, but I been busy with other stuff. I asked what the Nitty News was about and they said Gloverall. I picture googled

Last week was crazy. It started already on Sunday, me and Maria jetted off to a rainy and grey Milan for one night, our first trip there and loads of appointments crammed in on short time. Then came a stomach-thing, a day in bed at home, an event in store, followed by some kind of slow feverish delirium at the office on Friday, had to take the weekend off and now slowly getting back to normal. I hope.
Gosh. I so need to get back on track since this week means serious business - Paris Fashion Week coming up! We leave on Thursday and will be in Paris for a whole week.

My good ol´ Vivienne Westwood coat and Church´s Burwood brogues in Milan

I´m sorry to say Milan was a butt ugly city, but it did have it´s charms. This was cute.

And Maria was cute. Wearing her new Skargorn jeans (Thorn in Dirty Panther) with an Isabel Marant top, Marni coat and Jil Sander shoes.

We stayed just beside Corso Como and went for dinner and drinks on the famous no. 10 on Sunday night (followed by a fashion visit in store the day after, naturally). The courtyard was a waterfall of lights, very pretty. And had the smallest door on the way out, later in the night...

And at this point, Church´s shoes had to make way for Jil Sander wedge platforms. Yup, I got myself the ankle boot version, too. Pure love is in the air...
And the latest news, so much interesting turns this past week... Raf Simons leaving Jil Sander with a magnificent last collection, Jil Sander herself coming back to her eponymous label (just wow), The Oscars (the dresses..!), London Fashion Week and Milan´s dito, and the deliveries are now pouring in to the shop (Jil Sander Navy! More Isabel Marant! More Helmut Lang, more AVHASHBY, A.P.C., more everything!)
Our beautiful webshop model is on her very romantic honeymoon in Mexico though, so stuff aren´t even close to getting online in the same pace we receive them in store. So, come hither if you´re curious to see what´s new!

The morning coffe is always a strong favourite. Especially when the weather is kind enough for it to be enjoyed outside. A treat not too familiar for us in Stockholm for the past months, a substitute for the cream on top for those of us that prefer our coffee black. Coffe, a cigarette and new arrivals from Universal Works. It's hard to start the day off any better.

This Thursday, we highlight another new addition to Nitty Gritty, the absolutely beautiful rings by Swedish goldsmith and jewelry designer Rebecca Bonaparte.

Come meet Rebecca in person, have some cheese, a glass of wine and a chat with us, it´ll be nice! From 18:00-20:00, just RSVP to me at cecilia@nittygritty.se if you want to join us!
The rings come in different shapes and sizes, but in the centre of attention is this apple ring with tourmalines, citrines, smoke quartz and emeralds. So incrediby pretty! And for those wanting a more luxurious version, why not customize your very own? Rebecca can make these beauties also in yellow gold, white gold and with diamonds, for example...

May I also add that we as of today also got the new delivery from Iosselliani in, as well as a re-fill of the fine hammered rings by Laura Lee..? So it will be a sparkling evening, hope to see you here!

Beautiful, just beautiful. Thanks ever so much for this amazing tram story!
They´re here! Jean styles Thorn, Bones and A! from SKARGORN, in store and online as of yesterday.

More info from this week´s Nitty News here:
“There's nothing pretentious about SkarGorn; it's raw and unspoiled as it's catalysts…”
These words comes from the press release of denim guru Rikke Korff´s latest project, the denim brand SkarGorn. Danish born Rikke has affected the denim world probably more than any other individual during the past 15 years. With a background that includes super developing design commissions for Levi's Vintage, Levi's Engineered, Levi's Red and Lee among others, this woman is nothing but a true genious when it comes to combine (hi)story telling, brand development, jean fits, craftsmanship and forward thinking.
The press release also proclaims that the SkarGorn jeans are aggressively primal and have an instinctual spirit, deliver a modern and timeless product of superior quality and that, when it comes down to real Nitty Gritty of the brand, in the end it's all about black, white and blue – essential, sexual and rock`n´roll like there is no tomorrow…
We have no reason to doubt it and that’s why they've chosen the Nitty Gritty womens store as their exclusive Swedish retail partner.
Get down to the real Nitty Gritty 6 pocket deal.
