Travel report Paris

Author: Nitty Crew Posted: January 27th, 2012

We continued on in our search for the real deal in menswear for next A/W 2012.
Paris next and we always enjoy coming back to the city of love. We come here to visit tradeshows, to attend runway shows, to go to a bunch of showrooms and to eat a duck leg or two.
From Paris we buy among others, Visvim, Adam Kimmel and A.P.C. We always stay at Andres place up in the 9th and we always go to number 13 on Rue de Charonne for a proper Chateaubriand with all the right belongings.
Sometimes we go partying and stay out late at night, Le Pompon is a favourite.

Sometimes we just stay in the hotel and hang out with the staff after they finish their workday. They are so nice, sometimes they give us drinks and let us smoke inside. But most of the time, we just run around looking for a free taxi. That's a challenge. Sometimes we take the Metro. That’s easier. We love Paris.

Travel report Florence

Author: Nitty Crew Posted: January 26th, 2012

Our buying season always kick off with an always inspiring week at the numero Uno trade show in men's fashion, Pitti Uomo in lovely Florence. This year was no exception.

What makes Pitti so unique is the total cover of the whole menswear fashion scene. You have everything divided in different areas and buildings depending up on what segment your brand belongs to.
We've got the L´Altra Uomo space where you find brands like Nigel Cabourn, TS(S), Diemme, Ten C, Gitman Vintage among our Swedish friends Our Legacy and Uniforms for the Dedicated.
In the Touch Area you can pick up treats from brands like Yuketen, Want Les Essentials de la Vie, Post Overalls, Barena and the White Briefs.
But the heart of Pitti is of course Padiglione Centrale, a huge three floors building where it's quite easy to get lost between all the silk and cashmere from Belvest, Kiton, Corneliani, Zegna, Brunello Cucinelli... well pretty much everyone that makes slick, expensive and made by hand tailoring or accessories.

Part from all the beautiful clothing we see we sure enjoy a proper Italian pasta, a glass of Chianti and maybe, for the special occasions, a glass of Prosecco. For cocktails, the place to be is Harry's bar. The dry martini's they do over there… Oh mama!

Arividerchi!

PARIS, MON AMOUR

Author: Cecilia Posted: January 24th, 2012

Paris, round two; staircases and hallways as usual (I´m obviously obsessed with them), and now also featuring old mirrors!

A beautiful Parisian passage:

Paris passage

After our appointment with Helmut Lang we had a late breakfast at CLAUS (which could easily have been the best breakfast including omelette I´ve ever had in Paris, you must go there!) - and while looking out the window from the second floor of the intimate place of CLAUS, there was a Stone Island pullover hanging in the window right opposite to us. We felt at home.

And now, back at the hotel, we´re just about to dig into some nice looking dessert feat. fruit salad and chocolate mousse... Gotta love room service.

Paris life is good. So sad to say there won´t be another round until March, but in between we´ll do buying trips to both Copenhagen and Milan! Not bad, not bad. And the collections so far... OH MY. One can always tell on the number of personal orders... Wowsa!

AMOUR

Author: Cecilia Posted: January 23rd, 2012

We´re now comfortably checked in at one of our favourite hotels in Paris, Hotel Amour in Montmartre, which has quite a few unique interior details. Here´s an old hockey game from the basement loo, matching walls and roof in room 304 and ceiling artwork in room 403:

So yeah, what´s up?

AFTERNOON TEA AT 122nd FLOOR

Author: Cecilia Posted: January 22nd, 2012

Long time no see here on the blog, I´ve had some time off and took the family to visit friends in Dubai.
We´ve been hanging around in the Arabian desert during sunset, we´ve seen beautiful fish en masse (aquarium style), done some shopping at the largest mall in the world, we´ve had afternoon tea on the 122nd floor... Burj Khalifa is 800+ metres folks, the tallest building in the world. I´m scared of heights but I just had to do it, and boy was it worth it! The scones were superb and the view, priceless.

It was lovely to visit our dear friends and this last pic is the view from their balcony where we enjoyed a few nice dinners. Dubai is a seriously surreal place though, and it´s hard to imagine almost all of it has been built in the last ten years or so. Before, there was sand, and sand, and more sand.

Now, I´m off for Paris for three days, ordering Isabel Marant, Helmut Lang and A.P.C for next season. So excited, as always! Stay tuned for some Paris chic, coming up shortly.

ADIEU PARIS

Author: Cecilia Posted: October 8th, 2011

The staircase finale of this trip pictured here. I was so sad to leave Paris, my favourite city in the whole wide world, but so happy to come home to my baby girl, husband and dog! And I was sooo tired, it is intense days and long nights.
I had the day off yesterday and took a nap with Maxine before lunch and went to bed with her around 8.30... Gosh. I undoubtedly have tons of beauty sleep to catch up on.

And a couple of outfits, I wore the striped silk dress by Karin Malm another day, I love it so much:

And the very last day in Paris was actually grey and offered a bit of light rain. So I wore a pair of old trousers (super wide ones) from Minimarket paired with my brand new short coat by Vanessa Bruno, it´s green and gorgeous even though you can´t see much of it in this picture:

And that´s all for now, folks. Over and out.

PARIS DAYS GO BY

Author: Cecilia Posted: October 4th, 2011

Paris days go by so quickly, it´s already Tuesday night, and just a couple of fantastic days left in this magic city now. Here´s the latest snapshots feat. us girls, more beautiful staircases, autumn leaves en masse and bright walls.

Been wearing this new Anne Valerie Hash top a lot (in store now). I love it and always feel like a million dollars wearing it. Best ever. And I got myself a little present today. My only purchase this trip, but money well spent. A gorgeous short coat with wide sleeves by Vanessa Bruno, I´ll show you later.

Yesterday night, after dinner at Chez Paul, we went to a Purple Magazine party at La Fidélité. It was quite the crowd even though we arrived late...

SHOES (AND KATE)

Author: Cecilia Posted: October 3rd, 2011

Yesterday´s selection of shoes, wore the same clothes all day but changed down at the bottom. I just realized I brought ten pairs of shoes for six days in Paris... Seems I get fairly good use of them though.

Jil Sander green pointy flats (in store now)

Vintage Stuart Weitzman brown lizard pump

Army green suede Dries van Noten with floral heel (also shown on pic is my colleague Hugo´s brogue boots from Trickers, in the gentlemen´s store now)

Black brogue boots by Church´s (in store now)

We had dinner at the hotel, and so did none other than Isabel Marant and her husband Jerome Dreyfuss with their sales team, and Kate Lanphear of US Elle sat at another table just next to us! I got a bit starstruck on Kate, that woman is a-m-a-z-i-n-g (I didn´t have the balls to ask for a picture though, so you get one of us instead, ha ha).

Later on in the night, we left the hotel for nightclub Le Baron and we were dancing like there was no tomorrow until early this morning. We had sooo much fun! Just ouch when the alarm clock for our first appointment rang four hours later...

PARIS, DAY TWO

Author: Cecilia Posted: October 2nd, 2011

Second day in Paris is far from over, but here´s some snapshots from the day feat. Tuileries, beautiful and worn down staircase (as seen in just about every building - I find it utterly charming), Maria multi-tasking in a taxi, and now we just arrived at Hotel Amour, which will be our home for the next four days. We´ve bought Isabel Marant and Harris Wharf London, and we´ve been to more trade fairs. It´s gonna be the best looking spring/summer season ever, we couldn´t be happier!

Oh, striped silk dress by new Swedish design sensation Karin Malm, her small but incredibly beautiful debut collection just arrived to the store the day before we left. Pointy flats by Jil Sander, also in store now.

PARIS, DAY ONE

Author: Cecilia Posted: October 2nd, 2011

Our first day of this trip has not left us disappointed! Oh grit girls, we will have so much superb stuff in store for you also next year. We were at the Tranoi fair all day, had lunch outside (feat. my new shades from Hyde´s Spectacles) at the always nice Café Ruc (which has a cat to cuddle with upstairs), lots of champagne and dinner (with lousy service from cute waiters) with jewellery designer (and dear friend) Cornelia Webb and her sister, and then me and Maria walked to our hotel with her new glossy pump shoes by Jil Sander in hand. As always, there´s hardly any taxis available in this town. But Paris, we still love you. More than ever.

Some random pics from the day and night:
