What does a true Grit Girl have in common with angry young men (read mods), art students and Beatniks of London during the 50's and 60's? Well, apart from the most obvious reasons such as the sense of style, interest for arts, culture and music they all preferred to wear a duffle coat to keep them warm, comfy and stylish. It's fascinating that some of the most appreciated classics in the Grit Girl wardrobe of today originally are styles developed for the army. Such as the Trench coat and the Duffle coat.
If you are a Grit Girl and want to get down to real Nitty Gritty of Duffle's you should go with nothing less than a Gloverall. Founded in 1951, the name was a fusion between Overalls and Gloves which were two of the product groups that M & F Morris Industrial Clothing where dealing in before changing their name and started making the Duffle Coats available to civilians. We would like to encourage you to get a duffle and get out there and fight for your civilian and cultural rights.

If you have true grit, it means you have courage, strength of mind and resolve to what is right. To have the courage to become a mother requires all that and more and that's why we think mothers day (in Sweden, mothers day is always the last Sunday in June) is the most important day of all “days”.

The last time we where in London was in November. The Weather was about 12-14 degrees Celsius and the sky was all grey. This time we where really happy to enter the Norwegian early bird from Stockholm to head out west towards a spring bursting London and two days filled with inspiration, buying for the shop and hanging out with the hype lords over at A Number of Names Agency. Weather? Well, since its spring time it was at least a lovely 12-14 degrees and grey sky…

Hopefully no one has missed our guests in the Nitty Gritty Showroom behind our menswear store. The highly appreciated and beautiful pink coloured El Taco Truck of Stockholm has opened their pop-up Taqueria and will serve Mexican Tacos made with love and the right spices. One who is always very inspired by the native Americana is Hiroki Nakamura - the creative force behind Visvim.

Taco truck is the house and we took liberty to shoot some Get The Grit pictures in their pop-up restaurant. I made a soundtrack for the occasion.

Recently Levi Palmer paid us a visit in the Grit Girl Store for a meet and a talk to the Nitty Gritty Crew about his and Matthew Harding’s new work with their self titled brand palmer//harding. We are always honoured when international designers come all the way up to our northern outpost of the world just to see us.

Like palmer//harding, we are also slightly obsessed with the traditional formal shirt for men. That's why we've tried to create the perfect custom shaped semi-formal shirt together with Italian shirt maker DelSiena. This season, like every season, they come in shades of white, grey and blue and classic shirt patterns such as striped and checkered.
