Travel Report London

We took a day trip to London the other week to visit our friends at the PR and sales agency “A number of names”. Besides being a bunch of good looking, well dressed, proper pint loving men, they are also doing their best to promote such fine brands as Human Made, Bathing Ape, Bedwin and the Heartbreakers, Ebbets Field Flannels and a number of more names. One of these brands will be a part of the Nitty Gritty brand mix from next season. More info about that later on…
After a smashing Shepards pie and a local pale ale for lunch at the Albion we went to the Drake's showroom which is located above their shop at number 3 Clifford Street just off Savile Row. It a lovely little shop where you'll find their London made ties, Irish knits, Italian scarves and a small selection of well tailord coats and sport jackets.
Meetings done and still a few hours before the flight back to Stockholm we went to do some store checks and started at Libertys just to find that the Our Legacy boys managed to grab the best spot at the lower ground floor where the menswear are presented. Well done boys!
Off to Bloomsbury and the super nice little Lambs Conduit Street to say hi to the Universal Works guys, check out the Folk and the two Oliver Spencer shops and the Private v.c White shop. Proper Manchester produced jackets, outerwear and shoes.
London is really getting a lot of energy back and it feels very inspiring to be there, hopefully we'll be back soon for a number of more names…
House of the seven seas
If Nanamica is going for inspirational search out seas, Preen went even further this season. Space.
The Bench - Let's do it
Things that can happen on a rainy day at Krukmakargatan: Nitty Gritty is a destination. We are in the city, but not in the city center. Our two stores are located together with the Our Legacy store, the Uniform for the dedicated store, DOM Hairdressing salon and the lovely little book- and magazine store Papercut.
He has always gone his own way. He has always stayed true to his visions and he has created one of the most modern companies known in the clothing industry. What others are beginning to do now, in terms of ecological, recycled and environmentally friendly fabrics, transparent communication and honest clothing, he engaged into about 20 years ago. He is the visionary rock climber, falconer, surfer, fishermen and environmental activist that has created one of the largest outerwear companies in the world. His name is Yvon Chouinard and his company is named Patagonia.
Bangers ‘n’ Mash
This Saturday one of our favourite social gatherings, Bangers ‘n’ Mash, is celebrating their 10 years anniversary. They've had some great guest DJ's over the years and this Saturday is no exception
The Bench - Andy Liffner
You usually see him biking around Södermalm on his daddy-hipster bike with a bunch of kids in the front box.
Scandinavians as we are, we kind of enjoy when the temperature starts to drop a little in September. Especially after such a long and sunny summer like the one we’ve had this year. Autumn is our favourite “clothes season” and this fall we have a great variation in our outerwear offerings. Whether your everyday life requires a sleek and contemporary coat or you prefer to stay warm and comfy on the inside whilst able to keep rain and snow out we feel confident in the selection of such outer layers here at Nitty Gritty.
Stone Island AW '014'015_Raso Hand Painted Tortoise Shell_ Il Video
The hand-crafted process behind Raso Hand Painted Tortoise Shell is revealed. The garment -made in a satin weave cotton fabric of military origin- is dyed and then faded in selected areas with a corrosive paste. The bleached parts have then been hand painted with a tortoiseshell-inspired motif also polluting the Stone Island badge on the left sleeve. This extraordinary manual process makes each piece unique and unrepeatable.
Pontus Alv and his team hits the streets of Manhattan to promote their Converse collaboration.
The Bench - Magdalena Tafvelin
Isn´t this what styling is all about!?
The Bench - Local Hero
Ursula is one of our local heroes at Nitty Gritty since she is a regular and she lives around the corner from the store
The Bench - Dômo arigatô gozaimasu
Naoko Akech iwas kind enough to bring some friends over to Nitty Gritty to do a report about us for the free magazines ”Travellers” and ”Kelly”, which are both distributed in Japan.
The Bench - Valery Demure
Valery Demure with colleague paid us a visit in store today. She runs Valery Demure showroom in London
Boho stylish New York gentlemen and Italian candles…
The first time we lay our eyes on Daiki Suzuki’s Engineered Garments we fell for the intelligent design that pervades pretty much through all pieces (and that's quite a few…) in the collection and they can also be mixed and matched together eminently. The potential numbers of unique looks seems endles
Learn from the past, think of the future
We like to tell stories, and listen to stories; we like to engage in small talks with our customers about their everyday life, about music and about style. We like to share our thoughts because we think that they can help people understand why we buy the brands we do and how we experience and interpret the style we convey at Nitty Gritty.
