Moncler V

Moncler has always been and is still synonymous with duvet par excellence. The down jacket is one mighty garment. It might take on many different forms and styles but always stays true to itself and its purpose. The origins of its name are embedded in its roots: Moncler is an abbreviation of Monastier de Clermont which is a mountain village not far from Grenoble. It is here, in 1952, the man behind it all, René Ramillon, entrepreneur and manufacturer of mountain articles, sets up the company that will give life to the celebrated down jacket.

In 1968, on the occasion of the winter Olympics in Grenoble, Moncler becomes the official provider of the French national alpine skiing team. This special event also marks a change in the logo: Mount Eguin, which rises behind the town of Grenoble, is replaced by the celebrated cock.

Moncler has teamed up with Visvim for a successful collaboration which we at Nitty Gritty celebrate.
