They are young, offensive and seminal. After Master Massimo Osti's overly early death in 2005 there are only a handful of innovative designers that on the one hand follows in his footsteps but on the other hand are not afraid of elaborating and shape completely original things out of their own creativity and skills. Previously we have had some outstanding pieces in store from Aitor Throup who have developed great designs for Stone Island and C.P. Company and most recently for Umbro including the kit for England’s National team of football presented at last year’s World Cup in South Africa.

A few things that these guys have in common seem to be the love of material experiments, functionalism, army clothing and the belief in a harsh and inhospitable dark future. They make clothes for you to be protected in, clothes that keep your electronics in place, your skin dry and your body warm. This is urban protection/clothing design at its best!

This fall Nitty Gritty celebrates 20 years as a brand and as concept boutique.

This is certainly something we want to celebrate during the autumn and winter. First and foremost, tomorrow Thursday 22 September 2011 the first store dedicated purely to women's indulgence in Nitty Gritty history will open its doors.

An extremely exciting progress for us and a direct result of the very strong increase in sales of women's clothing, shoes and accessories we have experienced during the previous seasons. We believe that by refining our store concept and separating menswear, womenswear and web we will strengthen our brand position and provide a clearer communication toward our highly valued customers. We also hope that this expansion will attract new customers, estranged to Nitty Gritty's world of carefully selected and pristine quality fashion.

When Swedish youth of today complains about rice being served as an assorted side dish instead of more traditional favourites amongst the youngsters such as mash or fries there is a popular saying amongst the older generation that goes "- Well, one billion Chinese can´t be wrong, rice must be good!"

The "rice" in Nitty Gritty's case has been for a while the Facebook. It's ok, but it's nothing we really aim to achieve in our everyday schedule. Maybe we thought that we were a bit cooler than all our other friends… But maybe, Just maybe 750 million people (including all of our friends) all over the world can't be wrong, maybe Facebook is the shit, and not just shit.

A couple of weeks ago we were contacted by two really suspicious looking guys (read; "computer nerds…") who offered us, for a substantial amount of money of course, some "help" in the particular area of Facebook.
