Shoemaker Jonas Lundhag began, back in 1932, manufacturing shoes and boots in a small workshop in the Swedish wilderness region of Jämtland. His sense of quality and durable functionality was just as well put as his love of nature. Since then, the knowledge and traditions of this small and unique outdoors company have been handed down from generation to generation and even today you can experience this special ‘Lundhags feeling’ in all of their products. Try one and you'll understand exactly what we mean.
In Lundhags own words:
“We don’t know if it has to do with the climate, or if it simply is in our blood, but one thing is for certain: there is something special about the mentality of people in Jämtland. To say that we are stubborn is not really a cliché. When we do something we don’t give up until we have accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
The fact that we stay with the shell principle in our boots can be seen as a bit headstrong. But for us it is completely logical. Today, it is agreed that the most effective way to protect yourself against the elements is to dress according to the shell principle. However, we also believe that the same applies to boots. A protective shell layer on the outside and two pairs of socks, as well as an insole to fill up the inside. No one chooses to go out on a hike wearing only a thin sweater or only an insulated jacket, so why go outside wearing boots that cannot change with the weather? With the shell principle, you can adjust your boots to the activity or temperature. Fill the boots yourself with two pairs of socks and an insole. The idea is as simple as it is ingenious because if your socks or insoles do become damp, you can always change to a dry pair. Furthermore, without a permanent lining, your boots will dry quicker”.
