Piero Fornasetti’s world is one of imagination, humour and poetic artistry. During his life (born in 1913, passed away in 1988), Fornasetti created an impressive catalogue including 11000 works, of which many has become truly iconic and his designs are collectibles in their own right. Revered for his masterful application of two-dimensional art to three-dimensional form, he adapted drawings to objects, furniture, interiors, theatre sets, fashion, magazine covers and books. In the 1940’s and 1950’s, Fornasetti and architect / furniture designer Gió Ponti were very much a dream team where Ponti created modernist furniture and Fornasetti covered them with intricate designs. His legacy now lives on through his son Barnaba Fornasetti, who runs the company today. The Fornasetti home fragrance collection, including scented candles, incense and scent spheres, is proudly presented with us at Nitty Gritty.
